What's going on?

The Mariana Ranchos County Water District has decided to significantly
raise your water rates over the next 5 years. They have produced a study which
can be found on their website that “justifies” the increase. Warranted or not,
there should have been a discussion before the rates were decided. But because
it’s up to the customers to organize and protest, the likelihood of the rates
going into effect is very high.

There is a provision that allows customers to protest and block the price hike.
It requires a signed protest letter to be delivered to the district by the Public
Hearing date on 10/17/24. If 50% + 1 of the customers protest, the rates will
not increase. Below you will find the rate increase letter that was sent out
by the district AND a form protest letter you can download, print, sign and
return to the district letting them know you’d rather not pay more.
